4 use cases

  • See remaining limits for all your AI coding tools

Put one ring per AI coding service on the screen edge and read what is left without opening usage pages.

    View prompt
Install Pulse from https://github.com/qunqin24/Pulse by downloading the latest Pulse-x.y.z.dmg from Releases into <download-folder> and moving Pulse.app to /Applications. Confirm that /Applications/Pulse.app exists and report its version. Verify the app launches and that the service chooser appears on first run.
  • Get warned before a rate limit stops your coding

Set notifications for limit thresholds and use the burn-rate forecast to plan the rest of a session.

    View prompt
Using the Pulse app from https://github.com/qunqin24/Pulse, enable limit-threshold notifications for <service-name>. Confirm the threshold setting is saved and report the burn-rate forecast shown on that service's detailed card.
  • Review AI token spend across local clients by day

Chart token use by day, model and agent over any span, priced at public API rates, and share a recap.

    View prompt
In the Pulse app from https://github.com/qunqin24/Pulse, open the token spend view for the last 30 days, group results by model, and report the top three models by estimated spend in <currency>. Verify that the figures are labelled as estimates priced at public API rates.
  • Build Pulse from source and run your own copy

Clone the repo, build the app bundle with the included script, and launch it on your Mac.

    View prompt
Clone https://github.com/qunqin24/Pulse into <target-folder>, run ./Scripts/bundle.sh from inside it, and confirm that build.noindex/Pulse.app exists. Report any build errors and the final lines of the build output.

How to use Pulse

  1. Check you have what it needs: A Mac running macOS 14 Sonoma or newer, on Apple Silicon or Intel; An existing login for each AI service you want to monitor, such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor; Permission to open the app past Gatekeeper, since Pulse has no Apple Developer certificate.
  2. Open qunqin24/Pulse on GitHub and read the README and license.
  3. Download the latest Pulse-x.y.z.dmg from the Releases page of github.com/qunqin24/Pulse.
  4. Open the disk image and drag Pulse into your Applications folder.
  5. If macOS blocks the first launch, open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, and click Open Anyway. Or run xattr -cr /Applications/Pulse.app in Terminal.
  6. On first launch, tick the services you want to monitor in the chooser, then click Done. Nothing is checked until you click Done.

These steps come from our top use case, See remaining limits for all your AI coding tools, which also has a copy-paste agent prompt.
