How to have an agent submit finished work to in_review for human sign-off with DSH Taskboard

An agent claims a task, does the work, and moves it to in_review while a human accepts it as done.

Who it is forA team lead who delegates coding tasks to a Harness Agent and wants a clear review gate before work counts as finished.

The problemAgents can mark their own work complete with no check. A review step only works if the agent can submit but cannot accept.

The outcomeThe agent's verified work sits in in_review, and only an authenticated human action in the Taskboard UI or CLI moves it to done.

What you need first

  • A DeepSeek Harness checkout or installation with the web profile
  • Node.js ^22.19.0 or >=24.0.0 (verify with `node -v`)
  • pnpm 11.x for repository development (verify with `pnpm -v`); profile installation uses Harness's pnpm
  • Write access to $DSH_HOME (default ~/.dsh) and the ability to restart the Harness process

Steps

  1. Create a task in the Taskboard UI for the work to be delegated.
  2. Let the Harness Agent claim the task through the in-process taskboard_* tools.
  3. Have the agent verify its output and move the task to in_review; the README says agents cannot accept or set generic status.
  4. Open the Taskboard overlay, review the submitted work, and accept it as done through the UI or the dsh-taskboard CLI.
  5. Check the task history to confirm the done status came from the human operation, not the agent.

Prompt for your agent

Using the DSH-taskboard repo at https://github.com/shengsheng90/DSH-taskboard, have the Harness Agent claim the task <task-key> with the taskboard_* tools, complete the work, and move it to in_review. Report the task key and its status after submission. Verify that the agent did not set the task to done.

Caveat. The README says only an authenticated human UI or CLI operation can accept work as done, so the agent flow alone never closes a task.
