How to ship a small API example with a lightweight ledger with J Space Cognition Suite

Track goal, open questions, and checks for a bounded deliverable using jspace.py.

Authorization notice. J Space Cognition Suite is dual-use. Only use it on software, sites and systems you own or have explicit permission to test.

Who it is forA developer or technical writer updating an API example that must match the implementation.

The problemSmall deliverables with several dependent steps are easy to finish without recording what was actually checked.

The outcomeA written answer with a heuristic audit result and a ledger that records goal, uncertainty, and observed checks.

What you need first

  • A host that can load a local SKILL.md and retrieve its supporting files
  • Python 3.10 or later, using the python, python3, or py -3 command for your system
  • A copy of the complete j-space/ directory placed in the host's Skills directory
  • Access to the target project as a task directory, and permission for the host to run local commands
  • For xhigh work, a host that can actually launch child agents

Steps

  1. Install the j-space/ directory and run the optional ledger with /scripts/jspace.py note --goal "API example matches implementation" --next "Inspect the endpoint".
  2. Record the open question with /scripts/jspace.py note --open "Does the example cover required inputs?" --settled-by "Inspect the endpoint and run the example", then view the seam with /scripts/jspace.py seam.
  3. Inspect and run the example, then record the real result with note --check "Observed result" --by "manual inspection of each input and execution of the reported case" --close 1.
  4. Write answer.md from the checked results.
  5. Run /scripts/jspace.py ship answer.md and treat its findings as advisory, since the audit is heuristic. (inferred, check the README)

Prompt for your agent

Use the j-space skill at medium level to update the API example in <doc file> so it matches the implementation in <source file>. Keep a ledger of the goal, open question, and observed checks, then write answer.md. Verify that the example runs against the implementation and that the ledger records the actual outcome.

Caveat. The ship command does not prove the API behavior, and this ledger should not be mixed with the strict controller on the same task.
