Who it is forA developer or career changer who wants a structured path into AI engineering and has no course yet, triggered by wanting to start without paying or signing up.
The problemLearning AI engineering from scattered tutorials leaves gaps, and many paid courses require a signup or a paid API key.
The outcomeThe repo is cloned, dependencies are installed, Week 1 is open, and the seeded dataset that later weeks reuse has been generated.
What you need first
- A computer you can install software on
- Git installed, to run the clone command
- Python installed, with pip available
- About ten hours a week and basic computer literacy
- No prior Python, GPU, or paid API key is required
Steps
- Run
git clone https://github.com/zorost/AI-Engineering-Lab.git - Run
cd AI-Engineering-Lab - Run
python -m pip install -r requirements.txt - Read START-HERE.md, then open curriculum/week-01 and follow its setup steps
- Open the tracker in curriculum/tracking and tick the Monday row when Week 1 is done
Prompt for your agent
Clone https://github.com/zorost/AI-Engineering-Lab into <target-folder>, install requirements.txt with python -m pip, then open curriculum/week-01/README.md. Report the Week 1 setup steps and confirm the seeded dataset was generated under data/.
Caveat. The README says the GPU is optional until Week 8, but the setup steps and the exact contents of Week 1 are in the week folder, not in the README.
