Who it is forA developer who wants to kick off or check on a coding task without sitting at the machine or using remote desktop.
The problemChecking progress on a coding agent usually means being at the computer or opening a remote desktop session.
The outcomeYou send instructions from the phone, watch live status and streaming Markdown output, and switch agent or model per conversation.
What you need first
- A Mac or Windows computer with BrewPing Desktop installed (macOS 13.0+ or Windows 10/11 with WebView2)
- At least one CLI coding agent installed on that computer, such as Claude Code, Codex CLI, OpenCode, or pi
- An iPhone (iOS 17.0+) with the BrewPing app from the App Store, or an Android build from the repository
- Phone and computer on the same local network, since cross-network access is not supported
Steps
- Install Brew Ping Desktop from the GitHub Release at https://github.com/banmu123/BrewPing/releases/tag/v1.0.0.
- Install Brew Ping from the App Store on your iPhone.
- Pair the phone by opening Show Pairing Code on the desktop and entering the 6-digit code on the phone within 10 minutes.
- Choose an agent and a working folder, then send your first instruction.
- Open the conversation on the phone to read streaming output and send follow-up instructions.
Prompt for your agent
Using the repo banmu123/BrewPing, start a conversation with the agent in the working folder <target folder> and send the instruction <instruction>. Expected output: streaming agent output and a live status shown on the phone. Verify that the conversation is bound to the chosen folder.
Caveat. Both devices must be on the same local network, because cross-network access is not supported and no official relay is provided.
