Who it is forA short-form creator with existing footage who needs to cut a clip together on a local machine and does not want to upload media to a provider.

The problemTrimming, arranging, and exporting short videos usually means uploading files to a hosted tool or switching between several apps.

The outcomeA finished H.264/AAC MP4 exported from the browser, with all media kept in the local workspace.

What you need first

  • Node.js 22 or newer
  • pnpm 10 or newer
  • A current Chrome browser on macOS or Windows
  • A BeatAPI API key, only if you want to generate or analyze media or use AI redo

Steps

  1. Run pnpm install in the Beat Design folder.
  2. Run pnpm db:push.
  3. Run pnpm dev.
  4. Open http://127.0.0.1:3020 in Chrome.
  5. Import your local clips, then trim, split, and arrange them in the Video Editor.
  6. Preview the timeline and export the result as MP4 from the browser.

Prompt for your agent

Use the BeatDesign repo at <repo path>. Start it with pnpm dev, import the local clips in <clip folder> into the Video Editor, arrange them in order, and export an MP4. Verify that the exported file plays in a browser.

Caveat. Local importing, arranging, previewing, and exporting need no API key, but the setup still requires Node.js and pnpm, so it is not a copy-and-paste install.
