Who it is forA social media creator who wants to copy the pacing and structure of a viral clip for a new topic.

The problemRecreating a viral video style from a blank prompt usually produces guesswork about pacing, cost, and feasibility.

The outcomeTwo or three concepts that state what is kept from the reference, what changes, the cost at the target length, and a sample to review.

What you need first

  • Python 3.10+
  • FFmpeg installed and on the PATH
  • Node.js 18+
  • An AI coding assistant such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Windsurf, or Codex
  • Optional: API keys in .env for paid or free stock providers

Steps

  1. Complete setup with make setup.
  2. Open the project in your AI coding assistant.
  3. Paste a YouTube video, Short, Reel, TikTok, or local clip link or file path.
  4. Ask for a version about your topic, for example: "Here's a YouTube Short I love. Make me something like this, but about quantum computing."
  5. Choose one concept, then approve the sample before full production.

Prompt for your agent

In the OpenMontage repo at <repo-path>, analyze the reference video <video-url-or-path> and produce 2-3 concepts about <topic>, each with a cost estimate at 60 seconds. Verify that each concept lists the tools available in the current environment.

Caveat. The plan only reflects tools you have configured, so a richer tool path requires adding API keys to .env.
