Who it is forA player who wants a custom macro but does not want to write the syntax by hand.
The problemWriting macro lines and saving them in the right place takes trial and error, especially for players new to macros.
The outcomeThe macro is saved to your game and placed on your cursor, ready to drop on an action bar, and you can undo it.
What you need first
- Windows (NTFS), Linux with the game under Wine on X11, or macOS with a native client, plus python3 where the README asks for it
- World of Warcraft: Forever in windowed or borderless mode (exclusive fullscreen blocks screen capture)
- Node.js 22.2 or newer
- At least one agent CLI installed and logged in, such as Claude Code (claude) or Codex (codex)
- git to clone the repo
Steps
- Complete the install steps for your OS and run
npm start. - In game, type
/wow-aiand ask the agent for a macro that does what you need. - When the reply shows, click the Create macro button.
- Drag the macro from your cursor onto an action bar.
- If you want it removed, type
/wow-ai macro undo.
Prompt for your agent
In the wow-ai repo, with the bridge running, ask the chat agent for a WoW macro that <goal>. Expected output: a reply with a Create macro button. Verify the button is present and that the macro is on the cursor after clicking it.
Caveat. The README does not list which macro lines the game accepts, so test the macro on a safe target before relying on it in combat.
