Who it is forAn analyst or project lead who needs to know which people or organisations sit around one key contact.

The problemA flat list of notes hides how one entity links to others two or three steps away.

The outcomeA focused view where inbound links appear on the left, outbound links on the right, and the degree dial shows wider rings.

What you need first

  • Node.js and npm installed, so that npx works
  • A markdown file or a folder of markdown notes
  • A modern web browser

Steps

  1. Run npx md2hd map.md on the file that holds your mapped notes.
  2. Click the node you care about so the map re-forms around it.
  3. Use the 1st / 2nd / 3rd / X degree dial on a connection column to walk further out.
  4. Hover a row in a type's list to light its card on the canvas.

Prompt for your agent

In the md2hd repo at evan-steinhilb/md2hd, open the map for <placeholder> and focus the node named <placeholder>. Report the nodes reachable at 2nd degree on the To side. Verify the degree dial changes the rings before you answer.

Caveat. The focus and degree views depend on the edges in your markdown, so any missing rel: entry or wikilink will be missing from the traced path.
