Who it is forA teacher or study group lead who wants everyone on the same full-featured setup, with the optional AI guide and offline lessons.

The problemThe hosted web version leaves out the local AI guide and safe key storage, and the group needs the full app.

The outcomeThe desktop app opens on the machine with all labs, lessons and the AI guide available.

What you need first

  • A modern web browser for the hosted version, with no install needed
  • For the desktop or local setup: Node.js 20.19 or newer (22 or newer is best) and Git
  • For the desktop app build: Rust and the Tauri prerequisites for your system
  • For the optional local AI guide: about 1.3 GB of disk space for the Qwen3.5 2B model

Steps

  1. Install Node.js 20.19 or newer, Git, and the Tauri prerequisites for your system, including Rust.
  2. Run git clone https://github.com/Fazmin/AILearningGuide.git
  3. Run cd AILearningGuide and then npm install
  4. Run npm run tauri dev and wait a few minutes for the first Rust compile.
  5. In the app, open Settings and set up the local model if you want the offline AI guide.

Prompt for your agent

Clone https://github.com/Fazmin/AILearningGuide into a <target-folder>, run npm install and then npm run tauri dev. Expected output: the Discover AI desktop window opens with the home screen. Verify the home screen shows the six groups of labs.

Caveat. The README says the first run takes a few minutes because Rust compiles everything, and the app is not signed yet, so the operating system will warn on first open.
