How to summarize unread articles with AI Radar with Tidings RSS

Use AI Radar and article summaries in Tidings to triage a backlog of unread feeds.

Credentials. The AI features use an AI provider you select, which may need its own API key or account, so store that key in your provider settings and not in shared files.

Who it is forA busy reader with a long unread list from imported bundles who needs the key developments first.

The problemAfter importing hundreds of feeds, the unread list grows faster than anyone can read it.

The outcomeGrouped daily highlights and short summaries that point back to the original sources for deeper reading.

What you need first

  • An OPML-compatible feed reader, such as Tidings on macOS 12 or later
  • Internet access to download the OPML files from GitHub releases
  • Optional: a terminal, if you want to verify the SHA-256 checksums

Steps

  1. Import tidings-top200.opml or another bundle into Tidings and let articles load for a day.
  2. Open the Daily AI Radar view to see grouped stories from the unread list.
  3. Open a long article and use the AI summary to decide whether to read it closely.
  4. Configure an AI provider of your choice if you want AI features, and check its account and payment terms first.

Prompt for your agent

Using the tidings-rss repo and Tidings, import tidings-top200.opml and open Daily AI Radar. Return the grouped headlines and the source links they cite, and confirm each link opens the original article.

Caveat. The README says the Tidings Pro license does not include model usage, so AI features may cost extra depending on the provider you choose.
