How to review agent output and charts on your iPhone with Chums

Read the same agent conversations on iPhone and open charts, pages and files the agent made.

Who it is forA developer who asks an agent to build a chart, report or document and wants to view and touch it on a phone instead of the Mac.

The problemOutput the agent produces, such as charts or PDFs, is hard to review from a watch, and it stays stuck on the Mac.

The outcomeYou get the same agents and conversations on the iPhone, can type or talk, send photos and files, and open live charts, web pages, PDFs and documents.

What you need first

  • A Mac with Apple silicon on macOS 15.6 or later, with Xcode 26 and XcodeGen
  • An Apple Watch on watchOS 26 paired with an iPhone on iOS 26, and a USB cable for the iPhone the first time
  • Node.js 20.11 or later
  • Claude Code and/or Codex CLI, signed in
  • WhisperKit CLI and ffmpeg
  • A free Tailscale account for Funnel
  • An Apple ID in Xcode (a free Personal Team works)

Steps

  1. Install the iPhone app with the rest of the apps: bin/chums-install
  2. Open the iPhone app and pick the agent whose conversation you want to review
  3. Ask the agent for a chart, page or document to be made
  4. Drag across a live chart or switch what it shows; open PDFs, tables, videos or Office files in the app
  5. Run bin/chums-doctor if the iPhone cannot reach the hub

Prompt for your agent

In the chums repo at <target-folder>, run bin/chums-doctor and report whether the iPhone app can reach the hub with the same address and token. Expected output: a read-only check of the whole chain with a fix for each failure. Verify that the hub check passes before using the iPhone app.

Caveat. The iPhone app is built from source and signed with your own Apple ID, and a free Personal Team install expires after 7 days.
