How to get call transcripts and to-dos without a meeting bot with Coucou

Record a call from your Mac with no bot in the meeting, then get a transcript, summary and to-dos.

Who it is forA team member who attends many calls and wants notes and action items without inviting a recording bot.

The problemMeeting bots are visible to everyone on the call, and taking notes by hand while talking is hard.

The outcomeA transcript per speaker, a summary, key points and to-dos are written after the call, and the audio is deleted once the transcript is written.

What you need first

  • A Mac, since the notch app and most features are macOS only
  • Download the Coucou app from the releases page linked in the README
  • An AI coding agent such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or Gemini CLI
  • Your own API keys for any cloud provider you plan to use, stored in the macOS Keychain
  • An iPhone with the Coucou iPhone app, only for the phone features

Steps

  1. Open the Coucou Mac app and go to Notetaker.
  2. Add your Claude API key or enable Apple Intelligence on your Mac for the summary.
  3. Click Record a call before the meeting starts.
  4. Tell the people in the call that you are recording.
  5. Open the finished transcript, summary, key points and to-dos after the call.

Prompt for your agent

Using the Louis-CFM/coucou repo, set up the Notetaker in the Coucou Mac app on <target Mac> to record a call and write a summary with Claude or Apple Intelligence. Expected output: a transcript by person, a summary and a to-do list. Verify that the audio file is removed after the transcript is written.

Caveat. Recording a call needs consent from the people in it, and the README only says the Notetaker is on the Mac for now.
