Who it is forA developer on a Claude Pro or Max plan, or using Codex, who wants to avoid hitting usage limits mid-task.
The problemPlan limits are hard to check during a coding session, and running out mid-task breaks the workflow.
The outcomeCurrent Claude and Codex plan usage is visible at a glance in the notch header while agents run.
What you need first
- A Mac, since the notch app and most features are macOS only
- Download the Coucou app from the releases page linked in the README
- An AI coding agent such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or Gemini CLI
- Your own API keys for any cloud provider you plan to use, stored in the macOS Keychain
- An iPhone with the Coucou iPhone app, only for the phone features
Steps
- Open Coucou and go to Settings, then Agents.
- Turn on Plan usage for Claude in the Plan usage section.
- Turn on Plan usage for Codex in the same section.
- Check the small pills in the notch header for your 5-hour and weekly limits.
- Check the Codex pill for remaining free resets.
Prompt for your agent
Using the Louis-CFM/coucou repo, enable the Claude and Codex plan usage pills in the Coucou Mac app on <target Mac>. Expected output: the notch header shows a Claude pill with 5-hour and weekly limits and a Codex pill with its limits. Verify that the pills match the limits shown in your Claude and Codex accounts.
Caveat. The Claude pill is for Pro and Max plans only, and both usage pills are macOS GitHub build features.
