Who it is forA trader who wants an agent to react to market events outside working hours.
The problemWatching markets around the clock by hand is not practical.
The outcomeAgents run periodic checks or react to events through background scripts and keep working when the app is closed.
What you need first
- Apple Silicon Mac
- claude and/or codex CLI installed and signed in
- Robinhood Agentic Trading account with an authenticated MCP connection to your agent
- Funded brokerage account, if you plan to let agents place real orders
Steps
- Download the latest
OpenTrade-agent- -arm64.dmgfrom Releases, open it, and drag OpenTrade-agent to Applications. - Install and sign into the
claudeand/orcodexCLI, then connect the Robinhood MCP following the Robinhood instructions. - Ask the agent to schedule a periodic check or an event-triggered background script for the market event you care about.
- Set a background turn limit for the agent before you leave it running.
Prompt for your agent
In the MariusOTB/OpenTrade-Agent repo, set up a periodic check for <market event or ticker> for the agent named <agent name>. Expected output: a confirmation of the schedule and the event trigger. Verify that the schedule appears in the app and that the agent reports its first check.
Caveat. The README does not describe which market data the event triggers use, so confirm that before relying on one.
