Nvidia said on October 27 that it will invest $3 billion in Meta's equity offering, as part of an expanded partnership around Muse, Meta's AI assistant and family of models. The announcement pairs the investment with plans to optimize Muse training and inference and to deploy more Nvidia hardware at Meta. Nvidia says Meta's Muse models and agents have delivered frontier-level benchmark performance and surging consumer downloads since launch.
On the infrastructure side, Meta intends to expand its use of Nvidia Vera Rubin systems and Vera CPUs for next-generation AI agents, along with Spectrum-X Ethernet networking and BlueField-4 technology. The companies say they will focus on performance and total cost of ownership. They will also consider further work on Nvidia's OpenShell Reference Architecture, including OpenShell for safe agent deployment and Sentry for monitoring agent behavior. Mexico Business News notes no detailed timeline was given for that part.
The investment sits inside a much larger fundraising effort. Per Mexico Business News, Meta announced offerings on October 26 of $22.5 billion in Class A common stock and $12.5 billion in mandatory convertible preferred depositary shares, then raised the common stock portion to $25 billion. It has also outlined an at-the-market program of up to $60 billion, though it has not committed to it, which brings the expanded plan to $97.5 billion.
Nvidia is not alone. TradingView reports AMD will invest $1 billion in the offering, and CNBC's headline puts the Nvidia and AMD investments together at $4 billion. Mexico Business News adds that Meta said Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom had expressed interest in buying up to $5 billion of Class A shares collectively. The Motley Fool described Nvidia's move as a bet on one of its own customers.
Quotes from the two CEOs show the pitch. Jensen Huang said agents are "software that understands our goals, reasons, uses tools and gets work done on our behalf," and Mark Zuckerberg called Muse the way Meta brings "personal superintelligence to everyone." Mexico Business News says Muse is modeled on the open-source agent OpenClaw and can reach services such as email, calendars, payments and shopping, with user-revocable access.
For developers, the signal is that chip suppliers now take equity stakes in their biggest customers, which ties agent infrastructure demand to financing. Nvidia's OpenShell and Sentry names are worth watching if you build agent tooling, since safe deployment and monitoring are being treated as part of the stack. The companies have not disclosed all financial and technical terms, so the practical results are still to be shown.
