How to start a new game with a full AI studio team in Claude Code with Claude Code Game Studios

Clone the template, run /start and let the studio guide you from idea to first playable.

Short answer: Run git clone https://github.com/Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios.git my-game and cd my-game; then start Claude Code with claude; run /start and tell it where you are: no idea, a vague concept or a clear design. All steps.

Who it is forA solo developer with a game idea who wants someone asking the right questions along the way.

The problemA single chat session has no structure: no design docs, no QA pass and nobody guarding the game's vision.

The outcomeA project set up with your engine, a brief and stories, built by specialist agents with quality gates.

What you need first

  • Git
  • Claude Code (native installer recommended)
  • Python 3 for reading project.yaml
  • Bash (Git for Windows on Windows)
  • Recommended: jq

  2. Start Claude Code with claude
  3. Run /start and tell it where you are: no idea, a vague concept or a clear design
  4. Configure your engine, for example /setup-engine godot 4.7
  5. Follow /brainstorm, /create-stories and /dev-story to build the first slice

Prompt for your agent

In Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios, run /start for a <genre> game idea about <theme>, set up <engine>, write a one-page brief with /brainstorm, then create the first three stories and implement the first with /dev-story.
