Authorization notice. Blender AI MCP Addon is dual-use. Only use it on software, sites and systems you own or have explicit permission to test.

Credentials. Service keys for asset integrations are stored in your user settings, so keep them private.

Who it is forA 3D artist who needs a ready-made asset for a scene and wants to check it before it enters the file.

The problemSearching asset libraries by hand and importing the wrong asset means extra cleanup and license checks.

The outcomeA suitable asset from Poly Haven imported into the scene after your approval, with its license considered.

What you need first

  • Blender 4.2 or later (the release bundle targets Windows x64)
  • The mcp-for-blender-pro.zip file from the Releases page
  • An account and API key or connection details for at least one supported provider (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, OpenCode Zen, Ollama or a custom API)
  • Blender kept open while using Studio or an external client

Steps

  1. Install and enable mcp-for-blender-pro and open the MCP Pro panel.
  2. Add the service key for Poly Haven in your connection settings if the integration requires one.
  3. Send this message: Find an appropriate Poly Haven asset for this scene and ask before importing it.
  4. Review the search results the assistant reports and approve or reject the import when asked.
  5. Check the license of the imported asset before using it in your work.

Prompt for your agent

Using the mcp-for-blender-pro repo, ask the assistant to search Poly Haven for an asset matching <scene description> using search_assets and ask for approval before calling import_asset. Return the asset name, its license and the import result, and verify that the asset was not imported before approval.

Caveat. The README says to follow the licenses of the assets you use, and it does not describe the license terms for each source, so check them yourself.
